DivXDivX, a digital media company, today announced that it has released its flagship video software, DivX 7 for Windows, in Chinese for the China, Taiwan and Hong Kong markets. Now available at www.divx.com/zh-hans and www.divx.com zh-hant, the Simplified and Traditional Chinese language versions of DivX 7 for Windows allow Chinese consumers to create and play high-quality DivX(R) videos and DivX Plus HD video including high definition H.264/mkv files. DivX videos can be played on a range of DivX Certified(R) consumer electronics devices, including Blu-ray disc players, mobile phones, digital TVs or gaming consoles.

In just China alone there are over 250 million Internet users, more than any other nation in the world. DivX's entry into the China market further strengthens the DivX ecosystem by helping Chinese consumers take advantage of over 100 million DivX Certified consumer electronic devices that have been shipped into the marketplace, and to access billions of DivX videos available on the Internet, including user-generated and premium Hollywood content.

DivX 7 for Windows is based on the cutting-edge H.264 video compression standard, and enables the creation and playback of high-performance, high-quality digital video at up to 1080p HD resolution. The added language support extends the DivX digital video experience to Chinese consumers, enabling them to create, play and share true high-definition H.264 videos.

"China is a growing market, with a burgeoning consumer electronics manufacturing sector and a populace eager to create and watch digital video, whether on their PCs, TVs, mobile players or other CE devices," said Kevin Hell, Chief Executive Officer at DivX. "The release of this new version of our software is in keeping with our corporate objective to expand the depth and breadth of the DivX ecosystem, so that consumers around the world can enjoy high-quality digital content at any time, on any device, from any manufacturer." DivX 7 for Windows enables DivX video playback and is available as a free download at www.divx.com/zh-hans and www.divx.com/zh-hant. DivX Pro 7 for Windows is a paid version (valued at US $19.99, RMB149, HKD159, or TWD660) that supports easy DivX video creation. DivX Player is included in both versions and offers free playback of H.264 videos with the .mkv file extension as well as MPEG4-ASP videos with the .avi, .divx file extension.

DivX Converter comes with DivX Pro and enables one-step conversion of most digital videos into DivX Mobile, Home Theater, 720p HD, 1080p HD and the new DivX Plus(TM) HD profile, which based on the .mkv container using H.264 video with AAC audio.

To ensure that consumers will be able to enjoy these new DivX Plus HD videos on any consumer electronics device, DivX has introduced its DivX Plus HD Certification Program to device manufacturers in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. This certification enables the development of DivX Plus HD Certified devices, which will support playback of DivX video and DivX Plus HD video (H.264/mkv) whether created using DivX 7 software or third-party tools.

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience, including reliable video creation and playback, interoperability with other DivX Certified devices and the visual quality users expect from DivX.
