eMeter, Verizon Collaborate on Cloud Based Smart Grid Solution

Verizon is in another grid partnership, this time it is with eMeter, an application provider to the utility industry.  Both companies have announced their collaborative effort to provide a cloud base smart meter data management solution to utility companies.  The solution will be offered through Verizon’s IP Network by eMeter smart meter data management platform, offering utilities the peace of mind that their data will be secure and reliably delivered.

With a world wide connected network (with more than 200 data centres around the globe), Verizon has become one of the favoured telecom provider and partner in providing smart grid solutions. According to both companies their collaborative work will provide new meter data management solution that create opportunity for new business applications with potential for faster customer response and enhanced billing capabilities.

According to Rilck Noel, Verizon’s Global Energy and Utilities Practice, this partnership with eMeter is an example of how they are innovating to deliver for the smart grid opportunities for utility companies and that it is also part of the company’s “everything-as-a-service” strategy.
