Infosys Technologies has developed an Intel Atom E600 processor based Digital Smart Home Gateway for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).  According to Infosys, the Digital Smart Home Gateway was design to connect multiple home devices and allow users to manage them via wireless from a smart phone or remotely via the Web. Also available is the option to integrate the solution into other products for utility, healthcare, telecom, entertainment and security service providers.

Similar to the Intel Home Dashboard, the solution provides a real time monitoring capability for residential utility providers which include monitoring energy consumption per appliance, forecasting cost per usage, providing subscription to a demand response program, and recommending savings potential.

"The embedded Intel Atom platform creates an optimal solution with a range of connectivity options and significant processing power to deliver the breadth of applications with high performance and rich user experience," said Sanat Rao, of Intel South Asia.

Because digital smart home gateway features a reference design based on the new Intel Atom processor E600 series, OEMs can integrate other hardware and software components applications that run on the Linux-based operating system MeeGo. The Digital Smart Home Gateway also facilitates health monitoring and diagnosis, audio-video communication over Wi-Fi, entertainment subscriptions and security surveillance.
