Netcomm has collaborated with Sierra Wireless to develop a new line of Netcomm Liberty Series LTE Wi-Fi router. Netcomm is hoping to tap into the growing 4G market around the world with this new line of routers that are also backward compatible with third and second generation 3G and 2G wireless frequencies. The new range will use Sierra Wireless AirPrime MC7750 and MC7710 intelligent embedded modules.

The Liberty Series will provide speed of up to 100Mbps download and 50Mbps upload, speed comparable to wired broadband.  Netcomm believes that in the future its Wi-Fi routers could help mobile operators to move into new markets offering new services such as bundled voice and data packages, similar to those offered by wired broadband operators.

Sierra Wireless believes other electronics manufacturers will also benefit from the modules common form factor and multi-mode capability, which simplify the design and engineering process.
