Onkyo has worked Silicon Image to create the world’s first line of Audio/Video Receivers with InstaPrevue and MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) technology.  With InstaPrevue you get live picture-in-picture preview of HDMI or MHL-enabled device connected to your Audio Visual Receiver.  MHL enables a mobile device (smartphone or tablets) to transmit uncompressed video at 1080p.

InstaPrevue remove the need to guess what is playing on your different HDMI connections or navigate text-based menus. You can get preview of your game console, set-top box, Blu-ray Disc player or DVD player.

These MHL-enabled AV Receivers provide power to recharge the pluged-in device when connected via MHL. Using just five pins you HD quality pictures with up to eight channels of digital audio, according to Onkyo you are also able to control MHL-enabled mobile devices using the existing AVR remote.

Onkyo has not said which models will have the technologies, only that the technologies will be on show at CES.
