Palmchip has release a new AcurX51 SoC platform for the smart grid connectivity and home area network (HAN) solutions industry. The new AcurX51 is based on a customised version of the Intel 8051 processor core, which allows it to fit into environment that already has existing 8051 software tools.  It was designed with the green and smart grid community in mind; it is energy efficient, low cost and enables devices to be remotely managed.

The AcurX51 ware release with Palm8051 Core are currently designed into Zigbee wireless, home-networking chips, LED controller and home appliances. AcurX51 is an cost effective alternative to ARM, MIPS and ARC and offer custom design services to help its licensees to create a cost-effective and power efficient solution for green computing. With over 400 Million chips shipped to date and partners throughout the CE market place AcurX51 is a mature and proven solution.

“All green home appliances will require connectivity provided by advanced semiconductor technology. These new semiconductor devices need to be small, power efficient and they must be created quickly in order to compete in this fast growing market,” said Jauher Zaidi, CEO of Palmchip Corporation.Palmchip's AcurX51 provides that ready, cost-effective solution together with design reuse efficiency offered by a platform approach.”
