Swisscom has finally launched their home automation solution, ‘Quing Home’ after announcing plans for the solution last year. The new home automation and monitoring solution is similar to those recently launched by Comcast and Verizon.  Quing Home is the first of its kind to be available to the Swiss public, allowing them to control their home appliances and manage their energy consumption as well as keep an eye on their home.

To get Quing Home customers will have to subscribe plus an upfront cost of CHF 689 (US$ 744) for the starter kit, which consist of sensors and cameras.   Customers have the option of starting with just a few to understand how it works then add more sensors later.

According to Swisscom the range of devices and sensors are growing and we should expect to see more in the coming year, when they will be adding controllers for heating, water and alarms. All that Quing Home required is that customers have an ADSL connection. The kit is easy to install as it is plug & play.

As part of the CHF 19 per month subscription, customers will have access to Quing Home system via portal or app so they can control and manage;  customers data is backup to Swisscom locally data centre; the time or incident-based programming of the system and unlimited SMS and e-mail notifications. Also coming out next year is a professional subscription service, which will direct your alarms to a professional alarm-centre for them to take appropriate action.
