Tendril Australia Appoints Brent Hodges as General Manager

Tendril, a leading energy management technology provider, has added Brent Hodges to its management team as General Manager, Australia. Hodges, who will be based in Melbourne, Australia, will be responsible for driving the company’s sales, marketing, business development and overall strategic direction in Australia as well as the Asia-Pacific region.

Hodges joins Tendril with more than 10 years of experience in the wireless and Smart Grid industries. In 2010, he was named as one of Greentech Media’s 100 Movers and Shakers of the Smart Grid, and he currently serves on the Governing Board of the Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP). Hodges previously served on the Board of Directors for the North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) and the ZigBee Alliance, a global ecosystem of organizations creating wireless solutions for use in energy management, residential, commercial and consumer applications.

Prior to joining Tendril, Hodges was director of strategy and development at Reliant Energy where he focused on Smart Grid strategy and execution with partners and standards organizations. He was also vice president, marketing and business development for the ZigBee Alliance, where he led member activities that established ZigBee as the standard for low power wireless sensor networks.

Hodges’ experience in the wireless industry includes tenure at Ember Corporation, a venture backed start-up in Boston that was an early pioneer in wireless mesh networking. Prior to his time in the wireless industry, Brent spent several years in manufacturing leading various production operations and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Hodges earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
