Broadcom has announced that TiVo, the advance television service provider has selected Broadcom’s Bluetooth technology for a new remote.  The new QWERTY keyboard remote control will help TiVo customers to take full advantage of the application services available through its TiVo Premiere, TiVo HD and TiVo Services boxes. The new TiVo Slide QWERTY keyboard remote control is the first TiVo remote to feature Bluetooth, enabling comfortable text entry for search and discovery of content.

“Bluetooth complements our new TiVo Slide remote control, enabling a flexible, powerful and convenient user experience for our customers,”said Jim Denny, TiVo GM of Product Marketing.  Broadcom’s Bluetooth technology has been well-proven in consumer electronics devices, making it a natural choice for our new remote.”

The TiVo platform offers access to millions of pieces of content from providers such as Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Video on Demand, Rhapsody and more; so providing an advance remote where subscribers can use the same remote to type text and search for content is a plus for the platform.

The remote will feature Broadcom’s BCM2042 single-chip Bluetooth solution, that is mature and field proven with some of the most popular game controllers on the market, and is used by majority of the wireless keyboard available today.
