Netia Selected Netgem Hybrid IPTV Technology for Poland

Netia a multi-screen television service provider based in Poland has chosen to build its hybrid IPTV solutions on Netgem. Netia started as a fixed line broadband provider expanded added voice and now they are adding Netgem services to offer the complete triple play experience.  Part of the agreement, is Netgem will provide Netia with its middleware and hybrid DTT/Internet Set-top boxes. Vestel Launched First Bittorrent Certified Smart TV

Vestel the manufacturer of digital televison and BitTorrent have join forces to create the world's first BitTorrent Certified Digital TV. The television was on show at this year’s IFA show in Berlin. Vestel said the new BitTorrent Certified TV will enable consumers to find, play and share all types of personal media, independently produced content and internet files directly on their TV. Trident Unveils Fusion HiDTV the First Intergrated 240Hz Digital TV SoC for Android

Trident Microsystems, today unveils the world's first integrated 240 Hz digital TV SoC (System-on-Chip) for Android-Based smart televisions. The chip is due for commercial release in the first quarter of 2012, will help digital televisions to offer a more immersive entertainment experience. TiVo and Canal Digital Form Digital TV Partnership

Scandinavian broadband, TV and telephone provider Canal Digital- part of the Telenor Group has formed a strategic partnership with TiVo, the advance television service provider, in an effort to offer Nordic viewers some the most advance television services. Under the Agreement the TiVo services will be available to Telenor’s Canal Digital Direct-to-Home satellite customers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. Read more »

China’s BesTV Selects Dolby Digital Plus for HD IPTV Service

BesTV, China's premier HD IPTV live and video-on-demand (VOD) service provider has joined the list of other television service provider to integrate Dolby Laboratories’ Dolby Digital Plus as part of their feature rich HD TV solutions. Mitsubishi Releases Software Update For 738 and 838 Series 3D TVs

Owners of Mitsubishi 738 and 838 series 3D-ready TVs or being offered a free 3D TV software upgrade.  Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America (MDEA) said the free upgrade will make it easier for consumers to experience large screen immersive 3D home entertainment and that the upgrade will allow the 738 and 838 series to directly support all mandatory 3D signal formats prescribed in the HDMI 1.4a specification. NBC Universal to Stream Cable and Broadcast TV Series to Netflix Members

netflixIn a joint deal with Netflix NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution announced that US Netflix members can now watch a selection of broadcast series from the NBC television network and NBC Universal's popular cable channels. This agreement has widened the choice available to Netflix members for just $8.99 a month. 3view & MaxLinear Collaborate On HD Digital TV Recorder

3view3view and MaxLinear have announced that they are collaborating on the development of a HD Digital TV Recorder, a hybrid IPTV and DVB-T2 set top box for 3view. The new device is to be deployed in the UK, and will enable users to view and record free content on over 50 HD TV channels and IPTV (Internet protocol TV), and will feature an integrated Sky Player and BBC iPlayer allow users to "catch up" on previously broadcasted TV shows on these two networks. STMicroelectronics SoC Powers Dish TV Digital TV Solution

dishtvSTMicroelectronics as announced that Dish TV, India's largest Direct-To-Home (DTH) company, with 7.5 Million subscribers, latest set-top boxes are powered by STMicroelectronics’ STi5189 and STi7111 System-on-Chip (SoC) solution. The STB (set-top box) decoder ICs embedded in Dish TV set-top boxes are capable of delivering Standard-Definition (SD) and High-Definition (HD) television viewing.
