China’s BesTV Selects Dolby Digital Plus for HD IPTV Service

BesTV, China's premier HD IPTV live and video-on-demand (VOD) service provider has joined the list of other television service provider to integrate Dolby Laboratories’ Dolby Digital Plus as part of their feature rich HD TV solutions. According to Dolby, BesTV will roll out its Dolby Digital Plus multichannel sound solution in China’s Guangdong Province with other area in the pipeline.
"By collaborating with BesTV, Dolby is helping to deliver an exceptional HD audio experience that Chinese consumers have come to expect with their home cinema systems," said Mahesh Sundaram, Vice President, Dolby Laboratories Asia Pacific. "We look forward to assisting BesTV in setting new benchmarks for video and audio in next-generation broadcasting through a new level of speed, quality, and efficiency."

A recent uptake was India’s Bharti Airtel who selected Dolby Digital Plus as the surround sound format for its new HD Direct-to-Home service and set-top boxes. Other providers in countries such as France, Italy, England, Spain, and Sweden have selected Dolby Digital Plus as their preferred broadcast audio standard for HDTV services.
