PacketVideo (PV) the developer of the Twonky media-sharing software and Bang & Olufsen (B&O) have announced a partnership that will allow Bang & Olufsen to offer its customer a seamless and connected music sharing experience using Twonky. The PV premium music player software will be part of Bang & Olufsen’s BeoSound 5 whole home entertainment management solution.

To date Bang & Olufsen has joined a list of service providers and OEM (Vodafone, Buffalo, Western Digital and Linsys) that have embedded the Twonky software in their devices. Commenting on the partnership PV’s Angela Scheller said “Twonky-BeoSound integration will help consumers take a significant step forward toward a completely connected home."

The BeoSound 5 and Twonky integration will allow BeoSound to communicate with other connected DLNA devices on the home network. This lets users access media stored on their home network, smartphones and tablets and play them through their BeoSound system directly from the controller.

BeoSound 5 customers will get access to the latest version of the software, complete with Twonky's media-sharing capabilities via B&O automatic software update service.

"Twonky stood out to us as head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to media-sharing technology. By embedding Twonky into BeoSound 5, we've been able to expand its capabilities and make our customers' experience that much richer -- so it's a huge win for both Bang & Olufsen and our BeoSound customers." -- Brian Bjørn, Senior Manager, R&D.
