Netgear's New MBRN3300 270Mbps 3G Mobile Broadband Router

A technology collaboration between Ericsson and Netgear has created a new  3G mobile broadband router, the MBRN3300. The new MBRN3300 3G wireless router with internal 3G radio, is a combination of Netgear’s wireless, routing, firewalls and IP network technology and Ericsson’s expertise in 3G mobile networks. The MBRN3300 is available now and will be demonstrated at this month’s GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

ZiiLABS & ARM Released New Digital Home Platform SiVO

zms08 ProcessorZiiLABS and ARM have teamed up to develop a new digital home platform called SiVO.  The processor was released at last month’s Consumer Electronic Show (CES) and features a combination of ZiiLABS StemCell Computing Array and ARM’s 1GHz Cortex-A8 processor.  The SiVO platform is a single System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture that offers 1080p Blu-ray quality HDTV and 3D graphics from low-power connected home devices.

Project Canvas to Paint New Picture for Britain’s Digital Homes

bbc canvasThe canvas project is in its final stage of consultation and has been given a provisional approval by the BBC Trust. Project Canvas was setup to allow UK viewers with broadband connection to watch on their Television set on-demand TV such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Player.  Homes with compatible set-top box connected to the internet could access content provision through Canvas without needing to pay for the content.

Atheros New AR7400 Powerline Chipset is IEEE 1901 and Homeplug AV Compliant

AtherosAtheros recently announced the availability of the AR7400 chipset. The new Powerline Ethernet communication technology is capable of using the existing electrical wiring inside the home to transfer data at up to 500Mbps, a capacity that is 2.5 times faster than what is currently available among Homeplug AV products.  Atheros said with this capacity household should be able to experience HD quality entertainment from every power outlet in the home.
