MIPS is back this year At CES to show us how far they have reached with their Android work. The company has unveiled a new SmartCE (Connected Entertainment) platform. SmartCE is designed to provide a connected experience with integrated support for Home Jinni ConnecTV application, Adobe Flash Platform for TV, Android, Skype, social media and other platforms. Sigma work on Android for the home has begun the gear fruit announced that DViCO has selected their SMP8656 Secure Media Processor for its TVIX Xroid A1 Android based connected media player. The TVIX Xroid A1 is DViCO first Android-based Over-the-Top (OTT) media player and is part of the company’s plan to develop an Android-based  product line to support the growing Connected Home market. Trident and ARM have collaborated to develop a new Set-top Box platform that according to both companies offers the best of Web 2.0 and media broadcasting.  Built on the ARM powerful Cortex-A Series processors, the new Trident Set-top Box, they said, will allow users to browse the internet, view TV programming, run rich internet applications and share various media content anywhere and anytime.  Also operators will be better able to target their content package to maximise advertising revenue.
