Accenture and Siemens Form Smart Grid Solutions Group Omnetric

accentureAccenture and Siemens have decided to create a one-stop shop for utilities and the smart grid sector. Both companies are joining forces to form the Omnetric Group, a company providing solutions and services around data management and system integration. Siemens will combine its smart grid products and solutions with Accenture’s management and technology consulting, systems integration and managed-services capabilities.

Eidsiva Nett as become the first Norwegian company to use eMeter's EnergyIP Platform and selected Applications as their meter data management platform and energy Analytics solution. eMeter, a subsidery of Siemens Business provides software that enables electric, gas and water utilities to realize the full benefits of Smart Grid.

The new solution will replace Eidsiva Nett's current meter data management system, and will be a crucial part in order to build a smarter grid in the regions Eidsiva operates.

City of Burlington Selected Siemens eMeter Solutions

Burlington Electric Department (BED), a municipal department of the City of Burlington Vt., has selected Siemens for the sale and implementation of the eMeter EnergyIP meter data management (MDM) platform. BED and several other Vermont utilities worked together with the state of Vermont to secure Smart Grid Investment Grant funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Enel Launched Smart Grid Pilot Project In Molise, Italy

Enel, Italy’s largest utility supplier has launched the country’s first smart grid renewable power solution.  The pilot project is costing approximately 10 million euros and is to take place in the southern region of Molise.  According to Enel, the project is setup as part of its push to develop the technology needed to handle electricity flows from decentralised, fluctuating renewable power sources.

Kansas City Board of Public Utilities Adds eMeter, IBM, Siemens to Smart Grid Team

Siemens has teamed up with the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (KCBPU), a publicly owned provider of electricity and water services to residences and businesses across Kansas City, Kan., to deliver eMeter Smart Grid Appliances. Each appliance includes a preloaded, rapidly deployable instance of eMeter EnergyIP meter data management system (MDMS) with IBM Tivoli and WebSphere software running on IBM Power Systems.
