Verizon Home Media Server Coming In 2012

Verizon is to introduce a new range of Home Media Servers to work with its set-top boxes.  The new Verizon Media Servers will be more energy efficient and will only need a scale down version Verizon set-top box in each room connected to your television. Developed in partnership with Motorola; Verizon said they will only need to deploy a smaller set-top box to each room, one that is small enough to connected to the back of your television.

Amino and Celeno are collaborating to develop a new range of whole home wireless networking solutions. Amino’s IPTV Over-the-Top (OTT) solutions is to leverage Celeno’s OptimizAIR to deliver IPTV, multi-room DVR, Over the Top video and Video on Demand (VoD), in high definition wirelessly.  The new range is to allow telecom operators to offer a compelling mix of broadcast, on-demand and content from the Internet including social media, gaming and applications.

Broadcom’s connected digital TV system-on-a-chip (SoC) platform (BCM35230) and other single chip solutions (BCM7633 and BCM43236) have been selected by LG Electronics for its line wireless connected digital TVs and Blu-ray Disc players. The latest chipsets developed with integrated support web media movie services and communications like YouTube, VUDU, Skype, Netflix, Yahoo Widgets and other services. Netgear and Intel Launched Wireless TV, "Push2TV" in Middle East

Netgear has collaborated with Intel to launch ‘Push2TV’ in the Middle East. Push2TV is a new adapter that enables Intel Notebook users in the region to display their entire laptop computer screen on their big screen HDTVs. The Push2TV solution also allows users to wirelessly access their media file on a laptop or on another device such as a SAN (Storage Area Network).

Marmitek has released an upgrade to its GigaVideo800 HDMI wireless transmitter to the GigaVideo820 with the latest in DHMI technology. While others are just introducing wireless HDMI, Marmitek said they have been offering wireless HDMI solutions in Europe from April of 2009.  The new GigaVideo820 supports a range of resolution up to 1080i and 1080p and fully supports the HDCP standard, which prevent the illegal coping of digital content. It is now available for a recommended retail price of 399eur or £359.

Veebeam has join a list of companies within the last month that has launched a wireless solution that steam content from your laptop or desktop PC to your Television at 1080p HD. So far we have had the Asus WiCast and HP TV Connect all offering the same functionality. According to Veebeam, Veebeam gives every broadband consumer the freedom to share their favorite content with others directly on their TV’s big screen.

HP has release a wireless PC to TV connector; like the Asus WiCast, the HP Wireless TV Connect allows users to stream wireless 1080p HD multimedia content from your laptop to your TV. The adapters are powered the USB port of the Laptop and simply work by connecting the PC adapter to the Laptop computer and connecting the TV adapter to the HDTV via HDMI, without the need to install any software. The HP Wireless TV Connect fully supports protected content such as Blu-ray and DVD movies.

Coming this September is the Asus WiCast EW2000, a PC to TV connectivity kit. Developed on WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) technology, the WiCast kit allow you to project 1080p high definition content from your PC (notebook, netbook or desktop) onto a television or LCD Monitor. The kit can transmit images up to a distance of 33feet, with no noticeable latency (less than 1ms).  The adapters will come as a set (HD video transmitter and receiver) in a compact consumer friendly design, and will interface to the PC and TV. In addition the adapters are powered the PC’s USB ports for ease of use and making the solution highly portable for use with laptops or netbooks.
