Sequentric Energy Systems, a smart grid technology solutions provider has announced the introduction of its Smart Energy Tablet. The seven inch touch screen tablet creates an Energy Internet “Hot-Line” that allows utilities to present a wide range of highly customizable energy related information directly to residential and business customers. Poised to redefine In-Home Energy Displays, Sequentric’s Smart Energy Tablet will be unveiled at this year's DistribuTech on February 1-3 at the San Diego Convention Center, booth #2507.

Sequentric’s Smart Energy Tablet starts as a conveniently-sized high resolution information display. The device connects over the Internet to utility company servers running Sequentric’s integrated imaging and data collection/management software. Once installed in a home or business, the tablet gives the utility an unprecedented ability to present a wide range of information to its customers.

This information is highly customizable and includes: near real-time home and appliance energy consumption with Sequentric’s patent pending state indication overlay; demand response event information and emergency alerts; interim and final monthly electric bills; price signals, time-of-use and critical peak updates; pre-paid electric account status and billing management; and the display of any third-party information that the utility has permission to provide such as Google PowerMeter or Microsoft Hohm.

The Sequentric Smart Energy Tablet is built around a seven inch, TFT active matrix back-lit touch screen. Display resolution is 800x600 pixels with a 500:1 contrast ratio. Available now for utility demonstrations, the Smart Energy Tablet is priced in volume at under $100.

“Our new Smart Energy Tablet is a perfect tool for electric utilities to help engage customers and plug them into a dynamic smart grid,” said Daniel Flohr, Sequentric’s CEO. “We are offering an extremely flexible, high quality device at a price point that we believe is critical for large scale deployment. As the product rolls out, we’ve got an extensive roadmap of new features that, through remote firmware upgrades, will dramatically increase its functionality. As new understandings about customer engagement evolve, incorporating new content for the Smart Energy Tablet is easy and will extend the value for both the utility and its customers for years to come.”
