D-Link today announced its Amplifi family of high-performance home networking solutions, designed to offer best-in-class performance for today's demanding connected homes. Optimized for the ever-increasing amount of Internet traffic in homes across the nation, the Amplifi product line includes the HD Media Router 1000 with HD Fue(DIR-657) for managing high bandwidth HD traffic and streaming, the Whole Home Router 1000 (DIR-645) and Wi-Fi Booster (DAP-1525) with exclusive SmartBeam technology for pushing wireless signals into the farthest corners of homes to deliver whole home coverage, and PowerLine 500 products (DHP-500AV, DHP-501AV, DHP-540) for adding bandwidth over existing electrical wiring.

Canada's Cablevision Offers Optimum iPad App To Customers

Cablevision has extends its digital TV service with the launch of the Optimum App. for the Apple iPad.  The new app allows you to access hundreds of channels and video on demand (VOD) services on your iPad in the comfort of your home.  The application delivers the full cable television experience to the Apple tablet device, and allows the iPad to function as a handheld television.  The service is free to Optimum cable television customers.

PacketVideo and JDM Extend Digital Lifestyle To The Car

That is because PacketVideo has joined up with JDM Sytems Consultant to extent its popular Twonky digital media connectivity solution to the Car. PacketVideo announced that they are working with JDM on a voice activated system to access digital content at home.

Connected Home: Mountain or Molehill

The Telecom Council met in May under the title, “The ConnectedHome: Services and models”.  The meeting looks at how suppliers and manufacturers were responding to the needs of consumer in creating the connected home environment.  See what Intel is doing here - Intel’s Vision of Next Generation Connected Homes.  In April Ericsson released their finding on a survey they did entitle “IPTV and the connected home” what consumer want from advanced TV services and the Connected Home. I mentioned these because the “connected home” is a growing topic and is now a frequent topic in media, telecom and other technology gatherings.
