Virgin Media and Motorola to Collaborate on Next Generation Connect Home Solution

Virgin Media - the largest residential broadband provider in the UK and Motorola – leading broadband communications infrastructure, enterprise mobility and public safety solutions will be collaboration on providing the next generation of home entertainment services to customers. With the growth in digital home devices, the two companies said they will be looking at providing a flexible content solution for their customers. Using existing technologies is not sufficient or capable of supporting the features/services that these suppliers want to offer their customers.

Therefore, new technology must be developed for the connected home generation. Using the connected home concept where customers can access content and information from anywhere in their homes or on the go. The suppliers are hoping to see new and better infrastructure being rolled out. “There is a growing consumer trend towards personalized viewing and Motorola is uniquely positioned to enable service providers to deliver personalized, rich media experiences to their customers,” said ChrisKohler, senior director of engineering at Motorola Home & Networks Mobility.

“Motorola brings the intelligence to render the network invisible, with manageable connected devices that allow the consumer to focus on realizing the tremendous potential of IP-based entertainment services.” Both companies are hoping that each with it unique strength in technology solutions and content delivery will bear fruits.
