Broadcom Launches OTT Media Player and MoCA 2.0 SoC Portfolio

broadcomBroadcom has launched a range of System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solutions for Hybrid TV and Over-the-Top (OTT) Media Players based on their BCM72xx chipset. According to Broadcom the chips features advance capabilities in processing power that will transform existing digital TVs into smart TVs. They have also launched six new MoCA 2.0 based SoC set-top box (STB) and Hybrid IP Gateway solutions.

The portfolio of BCM72xx chipset features a high performance CPU, advanced software integration and dual HD decoding (BCM7425) and transcoding to deliver new services such as video support for tablets and smart phones and video conferencing (BCM7221). Other chips in the range offers support for basic hybrid TV and OTT services(BCM7219), rich OpenGL ES 2.0 on-screen 3D graphical user interface (BCM7220).  The chips also offer ISS (Independent Software Developer) to develop solution for the Android, Qt, Adobe AIR and Broadcom Web 2.0 Web Application Framework.

The MoCA 2.0 Portfolio has six new set-top box (STB) and Hybrid IP Gateway system on a chip (SoC) platforms. The BCM7425 Dual HD Transcoding Gateway STB SoC features dual HD decoding and dual transcoding to allow for streaming simultaneous video content wirelessly to multiple devices and faster channel change with Broadcom's FastRTV technology.
