Netgem Partnered on Toshiba Places Set-top Box for France

Netgem and Toshiba have collaborated on a multifunction adapter to offer “Toshiba Places” for the French market. Through this new multifunction device French users will be able to access online services from their television.  The “Toshiba Places” was designed to optimised the TV experience, through it you can access a range of entertainment services, which include the ability to share your digital content (multimedia) with friends and relatives and watch video-on-demand.

The Toshiba Places multifunction adapter is actually a Set-top box developed with a customised version to the Netgem N5000 platform. The set-top box offers wireless and HDMI connectivity with advanced multimedia functionality to access stored content such as videos, photos and music and is UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) for easier integration to a Home Network.

If offers simple, visually rich and intuitive navigation combining DTT broadcast channels with the added value services available through the Toshiba Paces portal. The implementation of Toshiba Places in the home give users access to the web and its services from any screen in the home including tablets.

The Toshiba Paces Adapter comes as standard with 4 gigabytes of Flash memory to store downloaded content and a DTT-HD tuner.

The Toshiba Paces Adapter will be available in France this October and European countries in 2011.
