MobiTV and Deutsche Telekom To Collaborate on Mobile TV Services

Mobile Operator Deutsche Telekom and on-demand content supplier MobiTV are collaborating to develop a media platform for tablets, mobile phones, PCs, Internet TVs and set-top boxes (STB).  Through the partnership the MobiTV’s TV Everywhere solution will integrate into Deutsche Telekom soon to release converged media services. The MobiTV platform will play a big role is helping Deutsche Telekom to expand into the growing mobile TV market.

The first phase of the technology partnership began with a trial implementation of the converged multi-screen service that integrates MobiTV’s TV Everywhere solution into Deutsche Telekom existing IPTV service “Entertain.”

MobiTV is already the exclusive mobile television provider for Sprint TV, T-Mobile TV, NFL Mobile on Verizon and AT&T U-verse Live TV.

According to Mobile TV’s CEO Charlie Nooney, “Consumer acceptance of TV ‘on the go’ has opened the door to a truly converged multi-screen offering that will allow broadcasters, cable operators and pay TV providers to extend the delivery of primetime shows, live sporting events and VOD services to tablets, smartphones and PCs”.

The multi-screen solution will allow Deutsche Telekom subscribers to watch their favourite programs on any device irrespective of manufacturer or platform. Deutsche Telekom’s IPTV subscribers will be able to view both live and on demand video content on authorized PCs, tablets and smartphone devices.
