Motorola has release the findings from its 2011 ‘Motorola Mobility Media Engagement Barometer’ study. They found that new digital home solutions such as cloud services, social and mobile TV are changing the way we see our home appliances. Also consumer wants more content and connection. Entropic and Zenverge Collaborate on Open Screen Solution

Both companies have announced that they will be collaborating on a MoCA (Multimedia over Coax)-based transcoding appliance reference design that allows service providers give customers the freedom to view personal or Pay-TV content on any consumer electronics (CE) device. In addition, Entropic has made a strategic investment in Zenverge totaling 10 million dollars (USD). Read more »
DIRECTV Selects Pace HR34 Server for Home Media Center

The HR34 digital home solution, said Pace, is the satellite industry’s first fully multiroom DVR platform. Both companies are looking forward to consumer response, according to DirecTV’s CTO, Romulo Pontual, the Home Media Center will be a first for DIRECTV. Home Media Center will be able to record and playback different programmes at the same time and offer management access from different devices. Read more »

EchoStar Technologies, a subsidiary of EchoStar Corporation has selected Broadcom BCM7400 satellite set-top box system-on-a-chip solution for its SlingLoaded 922 high definition digital video recorder. The Slingloaded 922 is the world’s first HD DVR to incorporate place shifing technology, the ability to watch home television on other devices such as laptop and Smartphones. Read more »
3view & MaxLinear Collaborate On HD Digital TV Recorder

3view and MaxLinear have announced that they are collaborating on the development of a HD Digital TV Recorder, a hybrid IPTV and DVB-T2 set top box for 3view. The new device is to be deployed in the UK, and will enable users to view and record free content on over 50 HD TV channels and IPTV (Internet protocol TV), and will feature an integrated Sky Player and BBC iPlayer allow users to "catch up" on previously broadcasted TV shows on these two networks. Sky Deutschland HD Set-Top Box and Sky+ DVR To Use Broadcom’s SoC Solution

Leading pay TV provider Sky Deutschland has selected Broadcom SoC solution (BCM7325 and BCM7335) for its next generation HD Set-top Box and DVR (Digital Video Recorder) services. Sky Deutschland provides satellite, cable and internet services to approximately 95 percent of Germany and 85 percent of Austria. The new energy-efficient single chip solution will help Sky to provide multi-channel high definition viewing and digital video recording functionality for subscribers. Read more »

Advance Digital TV Offers Caller ID on TV and Online DVR Manager

This was a follow up service to the launch of Advanced Digital TV on SureWest's fiber-to-the-home and copper networks to over 205,000 customers in January of this year.
