Landis+Gyr, Dominion Launch Energy Saving Solution for Utilities

Landis+Gyr, the world's largest smart meter solutions provider, has announced a partnership with Alternative Energy Solutions group of Dominion Resources, to market a dynamic voltage management solution for electric utilities that automates feeder voltage adjustments using data from smart grid devices. Landis+Gyr is working with Dominion to demonstrate the value of this distribution feeder voltage management application that helps utilities reduce energy use. Under terms of the agreement, Landis+Gyr will act as a strategic marketing and sales partner and will initiate early deployments with new and existing Landis+Gyr customers.

NV Energy Selects Control4 EMS 100 for Energy Management

NV Energy has partnered with Control4 to roll out Control4’s home energy management solutions. NV Energy will integrate Control4 Advantage software with its demand response management system, to allow NV Energy to communicate with and manage any number of home area networks on the Control4 EMS 100 platform. In an effort to create an appealing customer experience NV Energy has a target of rolling out up to 20,000 EMS 100 systems to customer homes by 2012.

SGCC Releases “2011 State of the Consumer Report”

The Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), an independent non-profit group working to foster mutual understanding between industry and consumers to support next-generation energy infrastructure, will release the “2011 State of the Consumer Report” at the Partnering for Progress Symposium, 12:30 to 5 p.m. today at the San Diego Convention Center. The report examines consumers’ attitudes toward their electrical needs and smart grid initiatives and suggests an industry on the cusp of transformation.

Atos Origin and NXP Introduce Smart Grid Security Solution

At the Smart Metering UK & Europe Summit 2011 in London today Atos Origin and NXP unveiled a new Smart Grid security solution. Both companies have combined their different expertise to create a unique end-to-end security and authentication solution for utility companies. The solution brings Atos Worldline's ESS (Energy Security Service) and Atos Worldline's SMP (Smart Meter Personalisation) together with secure last-mile devices and authentication technology from NXP.

Toshiba to Build Solar Smart Grid Project in Bulgaria

Through their ongoing relationship and on the back of successfully completing relating projects, Toshiba is planning the development of a major smart grid project in Bulgaria.  The project involve the building of a 10MW photovoltaic park capable of supplying electricity to up to 2000 homes.  The project is worth EUR 37.6M and will be near Yambol.  The project was announced during the visit of the Bulgarian Energy, Tourism and Energy Minister Traicho Traikov and a business delegation to Japan this week.

Petra Solar Opens World’s First Integrated Solar Network Operations Center

Petra Solar, the New Jersey based company whose SunWave™ systems combine distributed solar energy generation with Smart Grid communications and improved grid reliability features, celebrated today the grand opening of its Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC will serve as Petra Solar’s command center where the company will use its Smart Grid management software to remotely monitor and control all solar and Smart Grid assets in the field, both in the U.S. and around the world.
