Sensus Finalizes Contract with PECO for Smart Grid Program

Sensus and PECO, an electric and natural gas utility subsidiary of Exelon Corporation, have finalized a contract for the purchase and deployment of the Sensus FlexNet(TM) Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) communications network and smart meters. The smart grid program will allow PECO to effectively enable outage management, distribution automation and voltage monitoring applications in a program that is expected to encompass more than 1.6 million electric customers.

Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative Appoints Patty Durand as Permanent Executive Director

The Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), an independent non-profit group working to foster mutual understanding between industry and consumers regarding the creation of a next-generation energy infrastructure, today announced the appointment of Patty Durand as its full-time executive director. In a long-planned transition, a former Georgia Institute of Technology Smart Grid and Energy Research leader will take over from Jesse Berst, Managing Director of GlobalSmartEnergy (GSE), an internationally recognized research and consulting firm, who has acted as the organization’s interim executive director since its inception.

Schneider Electric Acquires Telvent India

Telvent GIT, a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that Telvent and Schneider Electric have entered into an agreement under which Schneider Electric will launch an offer to acquire all Telvent shares at U.S. $40.00 per share. In connection with the transaction, Abengoa has irrevocably agreed to tender its 40% stake in Telvent to Schneider Electric in the offer. The transactions are subject to certain conditions, including approvals of European and U.S. competition authorities and other material conditions.

Eleven months after the release of GreenDash, FutureDash has release a new patent pending secure home energy monitoring addon to GreenDash, called “GridLock”.  The addon is to facilitate the secure transfer of data from the user's premises to the energy supplier.  Also to keep the data secure so users can later access it to query and analyse their energy usage.
