BRIDGE Energy Group, the Trusted Advisor and Implementation Partner in Smart Grid Integration and Utility Software Solutions, announced today that it will serve as the Smart Grid integration partner for Bermuda Electric Light Company (BELCO), Bermuda's sole supplier of electricity.

BRIDGE has been awarded the first phase of an Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) project, which is BELCO's strategic initiative to define its Information Technology and Operations Technology roadmap for the next several years, as they prepare to implement a Smarter Grid to support future potential initiatives across Distribution Automation, Demand Response, Distributed Generation, Renewables and Energy Efficiency/Conservation programs.

"We were impressed by the breadth of BRIDGE's experience in Integration as it relates to Transmission and Distribution for Electric companies, as well as their deep understanding of the Utility domain," said Christian Blais, Vice President of Technology at BELCO. "In particular, we are pleased to see that BRIDGE has been able to right-size its approach to meet BELCO's specific needs and processes."

BRIDGE will draw on it experience in the use of utility-centric standards such as CIM and IEC61850 - alongside its own open Smart Grid Reference Architecture (openSGRA). The first phase will include a close examination of BELCO's business processes to evaluate how they cut across all of these applications, followed by the integration of two critical applications - BELCO's asset management system and geographic information system (GIS).

"BRIDGE is pleased to work with the team at BELCO in adopting a standard approach to integration that supports a future state of massive technological and business change," said Tony Giroti, CEO of BRIDGE Energy Group. "BRIDGE will leverage its eFAME™ methodology to gain a holistic end-to-end view of how cross functional business processes, such as asset management and GIS, are tied together."

The EAM-to-GIS integration, supported by BRIDGE, will allow BELCO to leverage more advanced asset management practices in the field, ensure improved data quality and leverage more actionable business intelligence.
