Ingersoll Rand(IR), a $13billion global supplier to transportation, manufacturing, construction, and agricultural industries, announced today the acquisition of Crayon Interface's Connected Home Services (CHS) Platform in a move to expand IR’s presence in the Connected Home space. Crayon Interface’s CHS Platform includes the most prolific mobile application platform for monitoring and controlling security and energy management devices – including Z-Wave® enabled door locks, thermostats, lighting and IP cameras. In 2009, Ingersoll Rand partnered with Crayon Interface to introduce Schlage LiNK, the industry’s first web and mobile-enabled home management system. Schlage LiNK includes access control, lighting, video and energy management solutions from Ingersoll Rand’s Trane division. Schlage LiNK devices can be controlled from a web portal via internet browsers and from web-enabled phones supported by wireless carriers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

“We are excited about acquiring this innovative technology from Crayon Interface. We look forward to leveraging it to continue to bring unique and valuable solutions to homeowners and other consumers across a variety of channels,” stated Dwight Gibson VP & GM Connected Home Solutions for Ingersoll Rand.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the proceeds of the sale will go towards expanding Crayon Interface’s existing vehicle telematics business. “The sale of our CHS technology allows us to focus our resources on the explosive growth in the connected passenger and commercial vehicle markets,” stated Garrick Pohl, Crayon Interface CEO. “The value proposition around a connected vehicle is similar to that of a connected home – safety, security, cost savings, energy efficiency and convenience.
