After a successful collaboration with Verizon to implement a home monitoring and control service, Motorola said they are teaming up with Honeywell security to offer a connected home security solution to service providers. Motorola is inviting cable and telecom service providers to top into this new revenue stream; by allowing customer more than the usual telephone, broadband and television service.

With the Motorola and Honeywell security solution telecom and cable operators can offer their subscribers a connected home security service that enables remote management of alarm panels and associated security devices.

Through an easy to use screen on a smartphone, TV, tablet or computer, the solution offers a range of customizable services, including energy management, alerts and notifications, and live video surveillance, in addition to 24x7 central station monitoring, to meet a range of subscriber levels and needs.

Using a turnkey approach, operators will get Honeywell’s alarm panel hardware with device backed by Motorola’s carrier-grade, open software platform, which offers simple SDK APIs to integrate with back-end systems, such as billing, CRM and others.  In addition, Motorola said the recent integration of its 4Home software platform and the EDGE management system facilitates device management from both the subscriber and service provider ends, enabling virtual support solutions that reduce truck rolls and facilitate real-time troubleshooting.

Motorola believes this is a small part of the bigger picture and the potential of the underlying 4Home software platform, offers the possibility to expand its device management across the entire ecosystem of connected home devices.
