TiVo has joined the list of hardware manufactures to partner with Control4 to allow users central management of their home’s automation and entertainment systems.  Starting with the Roamio range of TiVo’s set-top box (with DVR, multiscreen and streaming services) customers will be able to manage their TiVo system from within Control4, along with their lighting and other connected services.

From within Control4, users will be able to call up information about a show and see all relevant information about the show, they will also be able to order Season Pass recording and learn more about the show’s cast.  Other features such as “My Show”, that allow you to check in on the shows you have been waiting for and monitor you recording capacity with the disk meter; “What to Watch”, allows you to browse what shows or movies are currently on TV.

The new TiVo Roamio integrates both cable TV and web content; 6 tuners and 450 hours of HD media storage, Wi-Fi and both in and out-of-home media streaming for added flexibility.

TiVo has agreed to open its API (Application Programming Interface) to Control4 so that TiVo’s devices can be discovered and manage from within Control4.  This partnership will leverage Control4’s Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) software to make integrating a new TiVo into the home much easier for custom integrators.  With SDDP, the Control4 home automation system automatically finds and adds supported devices to the network, reducing the time to install and program new devices as part of the home automation network.
