Marvell, a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced it has acquired the intellectual property and assets of Diseno de Sistemas en Silicio S.A. ("DS2"), a supplier of high speed semiconductor solutions for powerline communications.  Powerline technology converts any existing electrical power wiring into an intelligent, high-speed networking medium, enabling consumers to quickly and affordably create a "connected home" that can stream virtually any personal or subscription-based digital content to and from any room at high speeds.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Unicoi Systems, a leading provider of software solutions to the embedded device market, today announces the implementation of Unicoi’s Fusion TCP/IPv4/IPv6 in the next generation of digital home networking solutions from DS2. DS2’s Powerline Communications products, running Fusion TCP/IPv4/IPv6 Dual Mode Stack, facilitate whole-home networking through existing home wiring.

DS2 announced availability of  AITANA++, its third-generation, 200Mbps Powerline Communication (PLC) chipset, that will formally launch at Computex, Tawian, on 2 June 2009.  AITANA++ will allow equipment vendors to design the most compact, secure and environmentally friendly powerline communications products available. The reduced BOM costs, reduces costs for device manufacturers.
