In the coming year OEMs are to receive a new range of Trident’s Internet Connected 3DTV. The Televisions are based on Trident’s 3D Cinemascope technology which includes support to the latest online services such as Yahoo!, Rovi, VUDU, RoxioNow, Pandora, Flingo. The hardware includes Trident’s TV550 system-on-a-chip (SoC) and PNX5120/30 frame rate converter (FRC) to offer true cinematic experience by providing crystal clear 3D images.

Trident Unveils Fusion HiDTV the First Intergrated 240Hz Digital TV SoC for Android

Trident Microsystems, today unveils the world's first integrated 240 Hz digital TV SoC (System-on-Chip) for Android-Based smart televisions. The chip is due for commercial release in the first quarter of 2012, will help digital televisions to offer a more immersive entertainment experience. The new solution comes with an HDMI 1.4a receiver and high speed ADCs to support up to 1080p digital and analog video inputs integrated.

Trident and ARM Collaborate On Set-top Box Platform for Internet TV Services

armTrident and ARM have collaborated to develop a new Set-top Box platform that according to both companies offers the best of Web 2.0 and media broadcasting.  Built on the ARM powerful Cortex-A Series processors, the new Trident Set-top Box, they said, will allow users to browse the internet, view TV programming, run rich internet applications and share various media content anywhere and anytime.  Also operators will be better able to target their content package to maximise advertising revenue.

Trident Microsystems Buys Some of Micronas Products

Trident Microsystems, a leader in high-performance semiconductor system solutions for the multimedia and digital television markets, announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement with Micronas Semiconductor Holding AG to acquire selected assets of the frame rate converter, demodulator and audio product lines of Micronas' Consumer Division. The consideration payable to Micronas will consist of 7.0 million shares of Trident common stock and warrants to acquire up to 3.0 million additional Trident shares.
