According to a MarketsandMarkets recent market research report "Connected Living Room Market by Products (Smart/3D, LED/LCD/OLED TV, set top box, Home theater (Projector, Audio Equipment), Blu-ray player, Gaming console), Technology (Processor, Memory, Sensor, Connectivity) & Geography - Global Trend & Forecast to 2013 2020, the global Market is expected to cross US $957.65 Billion by 2020, at a CAGR of 6.8% rate from 2014 to 2020.

IKEA has partnered with Chinese electronics manufacturer TCL to create a new range of furniture called UPPLEVA. The all in one self-assembly range will feature built in internet enabled DVD, CD, Blu-ray player and LED TV.  IKEA said they came up with this because they found that people want to get rid of the cables and they don't want those mountains of remote controls either.

The Skyworth LED TV was unveiled at this year’s Red Dot Design competition, and is featured as on e of the best of the best of Red Dot.  It is described by its designers as a product that adjusts itself to the environment of the user.  The screen can be detached from the base for those of us who wants to hang it on the wall.  When hanging on the wall, the base can be set apart as a standalone speaker, allowing the Skyworth to be used according to how you want to enjoy it.

If it was up to the photo alone I would buy ten of these televisions. The Samsung LED 7000 is one of the latest internet connected TV currently on the market. Apart from its sleek and elegant design Samsung UE40C7000 has all the features you would need in a digital home, access to on-demand content such as LOVEFiLM, YouTube, BBC iPlayer and Twitter by simply connecting the Television to your broadband router via an Ethernet port.

This is the year for 3D entertainment and at the front are two of the world’s leading consumer electronics manufacturers, Samsung and Sony.  At the beginning of this year both companies made some major announcements concerning their 3D HDTV and other home entertainment systems.  Sony has grown their BRAVIA range to include the X900 Series and Samsung is offering their most sophisticated 9000 series along with their 3D Blu-ray players.
