They found that new digital home solutions such as cloud services, social and mobile TV are changing the way we see our home appliances. Also consumer wants more content and connection. Cablevision has extends its digital TV service with the launch of the Optimum App. for the Apple iPad.  The new app allows you to access hundreds of channels and video on demand (VOD) services on your iPad in the comfort of your home.  The application delivers the full cable television experience to the Apple tablet device, and allows the iPad to function as a handheld television.  The service is free to Optimum cable television customers. Owners of Mitsubishi 738 and 838 series 3D-ready TVs or being offered a free 3D TV software upgrade.  Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America (MDEA) said the free upgrade will make it easier for consumers to experience large screen immersive 3D home entertainment and that the upgrade will allow the 738 and 838 series to directly support all mandatory 3D signal formats prescribed in the HDMI 1.4a specification. Communication company SureWest announced today that they have rolled out an Online DVR Manager and Caller ID on TV service for Advance Digital TV. This was a follow up service to the launch of Advanced Digital TV on SureWest's fiber-to-the-home and copper networks to over 205,000 customers in January of this year. The new Caller ID on TV and Online DVR Manager service is available no additional cost to qualifying customers. Read more »

Both companies are to collaborate on using DTS’s popular Digital Surround in Samsung’s Digital TV products. DTS Coherent Acoustics provides a range of audio codecs supporting television, radio and internet broadcasting. The DTS Surround is already used in Samsung’s BD-P1400 Blu-ray disk player.
