entoneEntone has announced the immediate availability of its webVOD solution for IPTV service operators. The new solution allows operators to offer the best of broadcast television and OTT (Over The Top) media service simply by downloading the application to the subscribers’ set-top boxes.  The subscriber then has access to popular Video-on-Demand suppliers without the need of buying a separate appliance.

The Entone webVOD solution is already integrated with the middleware to communicate with the content providers. So Service Operators deploying Entone’s hybrid device can start offering the service without worrying about the need to make any modification to the middleware, because it is already pre-integrated.

“With our WebVOD application, operators can instantly deploy VOD services without the costs and complexities typically associated with equipment and personnel required to operate such a service. By moving the operator’s VOD service to the cloud, an operator can deliver a VOD service literally over night, with a broad complement of other differentiating web-media services such as online music, photo sharing, social media, and the like.”

Since 2009 Entone has worked with VUDU, a leading web media services provider to provide access to both VUDU movies (which hold the world’s largest catalogue of HD movies) and VUDU Apps via Entone devices.

“The fact that Entone’s WebVOD application can work with already deployed IPTV STBs makes this solution ideal for service providers wanting to add VOD to their service portfolio,” said Mike Galli, Senior Analyst at MRG.
