A Selected range of Samsung’s  Blu-ray Home Theater Systems, HDTVs and Blu-ray players are to have the MTV Music Meter as one of their applications. The MTV Music Meter which as launched on selected smartphones (Samsung’s Galaxy series smartphones and Galaxy Tab tablet) and a website is used to track artists trending based on their social media buzz is now ported to the Samsung home entertainment platform as one of its apps.

MTV Music Meter was developed by MTV in conjunction with The Echo Nest, a music software development house. MTV Music Meter supports the users listen experience by allowing music and artists’ fans to discover, consume, share and interact with new music.

Features include a countdown of the top 100 trending artists based on social media buzz as well as artist news, tweets, audio, video, bios and a feature that showcases artists of the same genre. If you like an artist you are listening to, you can share them, save them as a favourite for quick access later on the same browser, or hit the “similar” button to get the same discovery experience for more artists you’ll like.

The connected TV app, coming on Samsungs devices is due out later this year and according to MTV it will come at no cost. Users accessing the application through a HDTV, Blu-ray player or any other devices will have the same experience as those that access it via the web.

Also in the pipeline is a MTV Music Meter for other connected devices, TV’s and platforms including iPhone and iPad.
