SoftAtHome and Lantiq have decided to join their respective expertise to develop and integrated platform for advance home gateways.  SoftAtHome has combined its digital home operating platform with Lantiq’s broadband access and home networking technologies. So Far they have created a ChipSet Support Package (CSSP) that enables SoftAtHome Operating Platform (SOP) to rapidly be deployed on the latest XWAY XRX-100 processors.

With the new CSSP manufacturers of home gateways will be able to accelerate the integration of SoftAtHome Operating Platform into their devices.  It is a set of drivers adapted to sit at the hardware abstraction layer in the SOP system.  According to both companies the CSSP will be made available to Lantiq’s licensees of home gateway services.  Service providers like manufacturers will be able to accelerate the time to market their services such as advanced triple-play and digital home services to their residential customers.

Key Features of the Advance Gateway Solution Include:

  • DLNA media server capabilities that enable consumer to use, share and enjoy music, videos and digital photos across multiple devices.
  • Advance voice services.
  • Network attached storage (NAS) functions.
  • Support for third party developed software (parental control, Wi-Fi scheduling, PVR scheduling)
  • Green services.
  • IPTV and Web services support for convergent applications.

The versatility and flexibility of the Lantiq processors especially the XWAY ARX 182, ARX 188 and GRX 188 ICs, which are all based on the same architecture, have been integral to the partnership. They feature a 32-bit MIPs CPU core with separate 32-bit Protocol Processor Engine (PPE) and are IPv6-ready.

With support for Quality of Service (QoS) the XWAY XRX 100 series provide smooth handling of digital home services such as voice, IPTV and data on wired or wireless LANs.  The GRX family offers additional features European standard energy saving and data encryption for IPSec.

Due to the commonality of the Lantiq UGW suite of drivers across all Lantiq SoC solutions, the SoftAtHome Operating Platform can be seamlessly and quickly integrate into other Lantiq solutions, for example, the VRX200 VDSL2 series and the GRX200 router-on-chip series.
