We Are Spending More on Home Entertainment
According to the latest report from DEG (The Digital Entertainment Group) we are spending more to entertain ourselves at home. Our spending on home entertainment in the first nine months of this year is up 1% from the first nine months of 2011. The growth is attributed to increase in Blu-ray Disc sales, subscription streaming and electronic distribution.
The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and the DEG (Digital Entertainment Group) have reported growth in both the number of Blu-ray Players getting certified and the sale of Blu-ray Players in general. The DLNA has reported that the number of DLNA certified Blu-ray Players has nearly doubled in 2010. Based on current figures the general sale of Blu-ray Players will more than double in 2012*
The DEG (The Digital Entertainment Group) has elected its new board of directors and executive committee for the fiscal year starting 1 August 2009. Four of the five executive committee members are re-elected. The Group have also outlined its priorities for the new year: Strong support of Blu-ray Disc and sustainability and will expand its focus to include a wider variety of home entertainment platforms, including 3D and digital delivery.
