AT&T is forging ahead to become the go to connectivity provider for the new generation of smart solutions. The company today opened another AT&T Foundry innovation center, this time in Atlanta. According to AT&T this one is a launching pad for innovations in their Digital Life services, connected car and home entertainment platforms.
With the global IPTV market predicted to grow in revenue to $105 Billion (US) between now and 2015, Ericsson have move to become the number on IPTV provider by acquiring Microsoft Mediaroon platform. The acquisition according to Microsoft will give them room to concentrate on developing their Xbox platform even further.
Meet the Ericsson IPTV Two Screen Remote, a touch screen solution to control your TV and other connected digital devices in the connected home. The remote offers a single user interface for controlling both live and on-demand TV, Internet video, the PC and the mobile phone in the home. Following a successful launch at IBC in Amsterdam last month, where it won 'Best IPTV Technology' at the CSI Product of the Year Awards (see video below).
A technology collaboration between Ericsson and Netgear has created a new 3G mobile broadband router, the MBRN3300. The new MBRN3300 3G wireless router with internal 3G radio, is a combination of Netgear’s wireless, routing, firewalls and IP network technology and Ericsson’s expertise in 3G mobile networks. The MBRN3300 is available now and will be demonstrated at this month’s GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.
The Telecom Council met in May under the title, “The ConnectedHome: Services and models”. The meeting looks at how suppliers and manufacturers were responding to the needs of consumer in creating the connected home environment. In April Ericsson released their finding on a survey they did entitle “IPTV and the connected home” what consumer want from advanced TV services and the Connected Home. I mentioned these because the “connected home” is a growing topic and is now a frequent topic in media, telecom and other technology gatherings.
Ericsson announced the release of its Connected Home Gateway software. The new system will be demonstrated at this year Mobile World Congress in Spain. The new connected home gateway multimedia software will provide a single entry point for telephone, IPTV and other multimedia systems.
Ericsson said the Connected Home Gateway is compliant with major telecom and consumer electronic standard such as IMS, Open IPTV Forum and the Digital Network Alliance.
