ThinkFlood the developers of the RedEye control systems today launches the RedEye Pro a networked home automation processor capable of whole-house control along with an updated version of its RedEye universal remote control. The RedEye Pro comes with additional connectivity so that it can control more devices across multiply rooms, and controllable from a choice of smart devices and PC.

Accenture Survey Highlights Frustration Among Smart Device Users

A survey of over 2000 consumers by Accenture finds that British and American users of smart devices find it frustrating when these devices keep crashing and freezing.  It highlighted the need for better performing devices that address the need of the user, smarter and more innovative. Of the users surveyed most of them said they would rather have simpler devices that work but still would like have surprise features now and then.

Tendril and Whirlpool Roll Out Smart Home Appliances

Tendril and Whirlpool have announced that they are going to collaborate on the development of a range of smart home appliances capable of interacting with the Smart Grid, like the LG Electronics THINQ range.  Whirlpool will integrate Tendril’s energy platform into the Whirlpool range of home appliances for the American market.  Both companies are at this year’s DistribuTECH showing prototypes of these products.

ESNA To Publish and Maintain Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP)

ESNAThe Energy Services Network Association (ESNA) announced today that they are going to publish, maintain and certify devices compatible with the Open Smart Grid Protocol (OSGP). “By publishing OSGP as an open standard” said ESNA “it will enable independent implementation of interoperable smart meters and other smart grid devices. Carlo Gavazzi Previewed Windows CE Smart House Web Server

At this week’s Home Technology Show in London, Carlo Gavazzi previewed their smart-house home automation solution,  a web server application that allows you to access, manage, control and monitored it from anywhere in the world.  Home owners will be able to securely login to the smart-house system and control lighting, scene setting and curtain control they also will be able to view or adjust (actual temperature, temperature set points and real-time values).
