For those living in the rural areas of the UK it must feel like forever that they have been asking for better internet connection and receiving empty promises. Thing seems to be Atheros today launches the industry’s first HomePlug Green PHY solutions development kit. The M2M (machine-to-machine) communication development kit consists of a hardware platform based on existing HomePlug AV silicon.
Atheros has upgraded their XSPAN solutions to offer a better quality viewing of video over wireless. The XSPAN router solutions (AR938 and AR390) are the world’s first 3-stream 802.11n that supports reliable video over wireless and other bandwidth hungry applications. The new architecture will boost performance by 50 percent across the entire wireless link, said Atheros.
This announcement coincide with the release of the of the AR7400 Homeplug AV and IEEE 1901 compliant chipset. The new development kit is to accelerate the adoption and development of hardware and software among independent software vendor and smooth the intergration with other powerline Ethernet appliances and applications.
Atheros recently announced the availability of the AR7400 chipset. The new Powerline Ethernet communication technology is capable of using the existing electrical wiring inside the home to transfer data at up to 500Mbps, a capacity that is 2.5 times faster than what is currently available among Homeplug AV products. Atheros said with this capacity household should be able to experience HD quality entertainment from every power outlet in the home.
