Infosys Technologies has developed an Intel Atom E600 processor based Digital Smart Home Gateway for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).  According to Infosys, the Digital Smart Home Gateway was design to connect multiple home devices and allow users to manage them via wireless from a smart phone or remotely via the Web. Also available is the option to integrate the solution into other products for utility, healthcare, telecom, entertainment and security service providers.

intelIntel last month gave a clearer indication of their intention to play a bigger part in the connected home market, with the release of the Intel Home Energy Management Reference Design. Many companies are already using Intel’s Atom processor for the system, but Intel is going a bit further by offering a complete solution in the Intel Home Dashboard proof of concept device.
 

Netgear and Intel Launched Wireless TV, "Push2TV" in Middle East

Netgear has collaborated with Intel to launch ‘Push2TV’ in the Middle East. Push2TV is a new adapter that enables Intel Notebook users in the region to display their entire laptop computer screen on their big screen HDTVs. The Push2TV solution also allows users to wirelessly access their media file on a laptop or on another device such as a SAN (Storage Area Network).

Intel is on its way to making intra-home communications between devices travel at the speed of light- literally.  At this year’s developers forum they demonstrated a new fibre optic solution called Light Peak.  Intel believes that with the current demand that our lifestyle and applications place on the current solutions (HDMI, Powerline Ethernet, USB, FireWire, DVI and DisplayPort) they soon will not be able to keep up.

Intel Buys Texas Instruments' Cable Modem Business

Intel Corporation today announced it has signed an agreement to acquire Texas Instruments' cable modem product line. The purchase enhances Intel's focus on the cable industry and related consumer electronics (CE) market segments, where the company's expertise in building advanced system-on-chip (SoC) products, based on Intel(R) Atom(TM) processors, will be applied.The agreement is subject to regulatory review and customary closing conditions. It is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2010.

4Home today announced a reference home management software platform optimized for the Intel Atom processor that enables the development of a variety of home networking products that can offer connected home services. The new platform is the basis for the Intel Connected Services Gateway Reference Design that Intel will have on display at the Connectivity World tradeshow on June 15th in Chicago, demonstrating the platform’s ability to deliver new connected home services over Intel Atom processor-based platforms.
 

Microsoft Silverlight Goes System on Chip (SoC)

silverlightMicrosoft has announced that Silverlight is to be embedded as a System on Chip (SoC) solution for manufacturers and developers of set-top boxes, Blu-ray disc players, internet connected TVs and other connected home devices. Microsoft said they are working with Intel and Broadcom on the new architecture and visitor to this week’s NAB Show in Las Vega will see a demo version of the technology.
 

Entropic & Intel Digital Home Group to Demonstrate UPnP Quality of Service 3.0

Entropic EN2510Entropic Communications, a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment is joining forces with the Intel Digital Home Group at the CableLabs Summer Conference 2009 in Keystone, Colo., to showcase the world's first demonstration of the newly ratified Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Quality of Service (QoS) 3.0 specification over MoCA on a set-top box (STB) platform. The demonstration utilizes Entropic's EN2510 single-chip, coaxial network controller and RF transceiver, which is based on the MoCA 1.1 standard and the Intel Media Processor CE 3100 system-on-a-chip (SoC) based on the company's popular Intel architecture.
