For 2014, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has awarded Sony four “Best of Innovations Honoree” Awards. The honorees were picked from 28 consumer product categories, which now include 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, Wearable Technologies and In-Vehicle Experience. From these Sony was able to walk away with awards in Digital Imaging, Headphones, Home Audio/Video Components and Tablets, EReaders & Mobile Computing. To make it five their HT-ST7 Sound Bar received an Innovations Design and Engineering Award in the Home Theater Speakers category.
Samsung has partnered with McAfee to add virus protection to its new home media player called, Samsung HomeSync. The Android-base device can store up to 1TB of digital content, enough space for a standard home. HomeSync is due in shops from the beginning of October and will come with McAfee VirusScan pre-installed. Samsung said the partnership is to help protect and its customer’s digital content from the growing range of Android-based threats.
Entone has collaborated with LG to integrate LG Electronics’ Netcast media streaming platform with Entone’s hybrid media gateway. The solution will allow operator using FusionTV application and Magi hybrid media gateway to stream linear TV and over-the-top online TV services, without the need for a dedicated set-top box.

DTS and Ceton Corporation have announced a joint partnership to integrate DTS’s audio technology into the upcoming Ceton Echo, a Windows Media Center Extender. With DTS audio, the Ceton Echo will offer users a more immersive, high-definition sound experience on Internet video services, live and recorded TV services and personal digital media libraries supported by the Echo. Ceton Echo is expected to be available for sale later this year.

Sony described the BDP-S185 Blu-ray player as an affordable way to enjoy the latest home entertainment.
Zixi and Netgear have collaborated to develop the first full HD Over The Top solution. Using the Zixi Video Operating System (ZVOS) the Netgear NeoTV 550 Ultimate HD Media Player is able to deliver live and VOD (Video on Demand) full HDTV over the internet to the viewer. This collaboration also marks the first time ZVOS is enabled on an off the shelf and high-performance HD media player.
Logitech has delivered on their promise they made in the first half of this year when Google launched its Google TV platform. Sigma work on Android for the home has begun the gear fruit announced that DViCO has selected their SMP8656 Secure Media Processor for its TVIX Xroid A1 Android based connected media player. The TVIX Xroid A1 is DViCO first Android-based Over-the-Top (OTT) media player and is part of the company’s plan to develop an Android-based product line to support the growing Connected Home market. The TVIX Xroid A1is the first Android connected media player on the market to use Sigma's SMP8656 media processor.
