WHDI Standard To Include 3D Streaming Followed by Version 2.0 Upgrade

The WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface) Consortium has promise an update to the WHDI standard; to add 3D streaming and support for all of the 3D formats supported by the wired HDMI 1.4a standard. The updated version will make it possible to stream 3D video around the home. Also to follow is a full upgrade of the standard to make it possible to stream HD and 3D content to and from low powered devices.

Ingersoll Rand Buys Crayon Interface’s Connected Home Services

Crayon Interface’s connected home services were acquired by Ingersoll Rand.  Ingersoll Rand made the announcement today, that they have taken over Crayon home services division which include Crayon’ s prolific mobile application platform for monitoring and controlling security and energy management devices – including Z-Wave® enabled door locks, thermostats, lighting and IP cameras. D-Link and Intamac recently announced that they have partnered to deliver a connected home solution through D-Link’s  Home Monitoring Starter Kit.

MIPS and SySDsoft Collaborate On 4G Mobile Handset Android Platform

MIPS and SysDSoft have announced that they have made a break through using Android technology. SysDSoft a supplier of mobile WiMAX and LTE embedded software solution for 4G has collaborated with MIPS to develop the industry’s first LTE protocol stack ported to the Android platform. A break through which see MIPS move closer to becoming major player in Android and 4G solutions.

Popbox Licensed RealD Format for 3D Ready HDTV

Popbox has licensed RealDFormat from Real Inc. for its PopBox on-demand media player. This is to allow customers wishing to watch 3D not having to buy a different device. The move makes Pobbox the first over-the-top set-top box to support the stereoscopic RealD Format. Popbox did not say when the Popbox will be available, only soon and that it is available for pre-order from Amazon.com.

TransGraming and Metrological Combine Mediaconnect TV and GameTree TV

TransGraming and Metrological announced plans to globally deploy GameTreeTV, a broadband based On-Demand games platform available to consumers through their Intel® CE Media Processor powered set-top box or other consumer electronics device. The partnership is geared towards managed service operators and cable operators, who want to offer video games to their customers as part of a fully integrated digital entertainment solution.

ASUS Selected Roxio CinePlayer for 3D G-Series Notebook

Roxio, a division of Sonic Solutions, today announced that ASUS Computer has selected Roxio CinePlayer for worldwide shipment with its next-generation 3D-enabled G-series notebook computers. Roxio CinePlayer allows users to enjoy Blu-ray 3D, 3D DVDs, as well as other stereoscopic 3D content in a broad range of formats. The comprehensive media player for Windows also supports real-time conversion of 2D video to 3D, so users can enjoy their existing library of standard DVDs and personal home movies in 3D.

Acer's Connected Home Solutions LumiRead and Clear.fi

Acer has solidified its intention to join the connected home market with the launched of LumiRead an eReader and Clear.fi, a content sharing solution.  I have not seen much yet on how Acer plans to combine the products as a solution for the connected home. So far most of the information that I have seen is about the LumiRead. According to Acer Clear.fi is a solution that enables devices to talk to each other simplifying the process of sharing content and will put the human element above the technology.

Intamac & D-Link IP based Home Monitoring Solutions

D-Link  and UK based Intamac, a leader in integration and networking of devices within the connected home have collaborated  on the development  of a new range of IP based home monitoring solutions for service providers. The new solution will work with Intamac’s intelligent cloud-based platform to provide home security, energy management, home automation, video and telecare solutions.
