The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) Ratifies MoCA 2.0 Standard

The Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) today announced the ratification of MoCA 2.0,  giving OEM and operators a clear roadmap for them to invest and develop technologies that will serve the gorwing need for better connected devices.  The new standard will benefit technologies such as multi-room DVR, broadband extension and PC-to-TV connectivity, that will provide consumers with more robust, satisfying whole-home networking experiences.

Sony BDV-HZ970W Blu-ray 3D Digital Home Theater System

Available in the shops this July is the Sony BDV-HZ970W Blu-ray 3D Home Theater Systems. The new BDV-HZ970W features Sony’s new full HD 1080p 5.1 channel; 802.11n USB wireless LAN adapter for access to the BRAVIA Internet Video platform and Qriocity; two HDMI inputs with 3D pass-through, HDMI repeater function, and a universal remote. Owners of iPhone® or iPod® touch devices can control the players using “BD Remote” a free downloadable app from the Apple App store.  Also announced as part of the BDV-HZ970W introduction are three new 3D capable BRAVIA HDTVs (XBR-LX900, XBR-HX909 and KDL-HX800). These are available for pre-sale at the Sony Style stores.

AppleGone are the days when a computer power is judge by the size of its case. Once upon a time when you need a powerful computer you would go out and buy the biggest mother board, a big case to fit it in and a big PSU (Power Supply Unit) to run it all; thankfully this is not the practice anymore. Thanks to Moors Law, Apple is able to give us a high performance computer in the form of the Mac Mini.

Sony's New 3D BRAVIA HDTVs and Home Theater Systems Released

Sony 3D capable BRAVIA HDTVs introduced at CES this year, are now available for pre-sale at Sony Style stores. Also introduced was the Blu-ray 3D capable home theater system (model BDV-HZ970W) – due out in July.  Sony is also offering a free 3D firmware update for previously released Blu-ray Disc players BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 and Home Theater Systems BDV-E570 and BDV-E770W. The BRAVIA XBR-LX900 HDTV features a built-in 3D sync transmitter and two pair of active shutter glasses out of the box. 3D ready models BRAVIA XBR-HX909 and KDL-HX800 offer the option of adding the 3D sync transmitter and glasses at an additional cost.

The new company will focus on home/building automation and remote control products and markets. They have also developed a suite of ZigBee based long-range, multi-channel remote control and receivers.

4Home Announces Connected Home Services Platform for Intel Atom Processor

4Home today announced a reference home management software platform optimized for the Intel Atom processor that enables the development of a variety of home networking products that can offer connected home services. The new platform is the basis for the Intel Connected Services Gateway Reference Design that Intel will have on display at the Connectivity World tradeshow on June 15th in Chicago, demonstrating the platform’s ability to deliver new connected home services over Intel Atom processor-based platforms.
 

Cisco's Digital Home IP Traffic Index By Regions

Cisco thinks that Global IP Traffic will increase more than fourfold by 2014, and that the growth in traffic will continue to be dominated by video, exceeding 91 percent of global consumer IP traffic by 2014. Improvements in network bandwidth capacity and Internet speeds, along with the increasing popularity of HDTV, 3DTV and video streaming websites are key factors expecting to quadruple IP traffic from 2009 to 2014. They have also made their prediction tool available for us to make our own predictions.

Broadcom's InConcert Selected For New Netbook and Notebooks

Although Wi-fi is in nearly 100 percent of shipped laptop Bluetooth loges behind at a significantly lower number.  It is estimated that the ratio will change by 2014 to having Bluetooth in 90 percent of laptops shipped.  The Broadcom InConcert Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules were chosen by five of the top Laptop manufactures Asus and Samsung included for their netbook and notebook devices.

Both solutions, the Orb Live for iPad tablet computers and Android phones and MyCast version 2.57 for PCs and Apple Macs, allow you to access stored media on your computer or live streaming content.
