Onkyo has released details of their soon to be released A/V Receivers (TX-NR1008, TX-NR808 and TX-NR708).  The new models feature the latest in connectivity, sound quality and compatibility. All models offer the same basic features such as compatibility with Windows 7, DLNA 1.5 certified, integrated support of Apple iPhone and iPod, network audio streaming and multi-room support.

Broadcom Released Single-Chip 802.11n Dual-Band 3x3 Wireless Chip

The BCM4331 chip is the newest member of the Broadcom Intesi-fi range to offer consumer a better wireless multimedia experience.  The new single-chip solution achieves up to 450Mbps data rates in client devices such as laptops and over 600Mbps throughput (TCP/IP) in 3x3 AP/router configurations.  With Broadcom’s new Intensi-fi system-on-chip (SoC) solution HD video content can be downloaded to a notebook computer 50 percent faster than existing 802.11n 2x2 technologies.

Cavium Released Wireless Processor Technology to OEMs

Cavium Networks today released its CNW56xx video processor family to OEMs.  The CNW56xx is part of Cavium’s high performance and highly integrated PureVu line of processors, which features super low latency (SLL) H.264 compression technology. The new range of processor is to allow HD quality video over 802.11 wireless connections between connected devices.

Atheros 3-stream 802.11n To Boost Video Over Wireless Streaming

Atheros has upgraded their XSPAN solutions to offer a better quality viewing of video over wireless.  The XSPAN router solutions (AR938 and AR390) are the world’s first 3-stream 802.11n that supports reliable video over wireless and other bandwidth hungry applications.  The new architecture will boost performance by 50 percent across the entire wireless link, said Atheros.

Asus Alternative to iPad The Eee Pad

Other electronic suppliers are musling in on Apples Pad market.  This is the Asus Eee Pad an alternative to the Apple’s iPad. Eee Pad will run Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, and, unlike the iPad, will feature an integrated webcam and support for Flash video technology. It will be available with a 10in or 12in display, and is expected to start at around $399 (£275) when it goes on sale early next year.

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Digital Imaging Merged

Samsung Electronics and Samsung Digital Imaging are to merge today in a move to combine both companies specialisation; Samsung Electronics’ digital media and digital convergence technologies, and Samsung Digital Imaging’s digital cameras and imaging technology and to improve market leadership. The merger was approved by shareholders in February of this year.

Dell to Launch Android Tablet Streak in the UK and US this Summer

Dell enters Tablet market with ‘Streak’, a new android based tablet. The Streak tablet (see photo below) is due early June in the UK and will be sold exclusively by O2 the mobile phone and mobile network supplier.  It will also be available in US but not until later this summer. We are not told who it the States will be the retailer and Dell is not giving anything away by saying about the price or  if there would be a CDMA, LTE, or WiMAX version (i.e. Verizon, Sprint or Clear) available, so right now it is the usual GSM suspects  AT&T and/or T-Mobile.
