Yamaha Launches New 3D-Ready DivX Certified Blu-ray Disc Players

Yamaha and DivX today made a joint announcement of the worldwide release of a range of 3D-Ready DivX Certified Blu-ray Disc Players.  Both companies said these new 3D-ready players bring the best in visual quality and full-featured media capabilities, enabling stunning playback of full 1080p DivX Plus HD video using the MKV container.  First to market is the BD-S1067 (in Europe), with other models for North America and other areas coming later.

HDI Dune launches a new HD home media center for today’s connected homes. The HDI Dune Pro Blu-ray player features a new technology platform that allows it to be integrated into a connected home environment, which allows it to be monitored and controlled along with other appliances within the home.  According to HDI Dune the HDI Dune Home Technologyis a collaborative effort between them and 4Home, that allows home monitoring, media management, and control of all networked cameras, thermostats, lights, etc. from the television.

Onkyo's newest Blu-ray player, the BD-SP808 will offer Blockbuster On Demand. This month, the model will be rolled out in electronics stores nationwide, adding to a list of more than 85 consumer electronic devices that have integrated the service to boost consumer access to the latest releases.Onkyo's BD-SP808 offers other features in addition to Blockbuster On Demand, including a High Quality Video Scaler and full-featured Blu-ray Disc Play Back.

Industry Sees Growth in Sale and DLNA Certified Blu-ray Players

Blu-rayThe DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and the DEG (Digital Entertainment Group) have reported growth in both the number of Blu-ray Players getting certified and the sale of Blu-ray Players in general.  The DLNA has reported that the number of DLNA certified Blu-ray Players has nearly doubled in 2010.  Based on current figures the general sale of Blu-ray Players will more than double in 2012*

Netflix and Universal Studios Home Entertainment in DVD, Blu-ray and Content Streaming Deal

NetflixNetflix customers can now watch movies released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment 28 days after their release. Universal Studios Home Entertainment made the announcement today. In the deal new releases on DVD and Blu-ray will have a four weeks period by which time Universal should make enough sales of its physical and digital offerings. After this window Netflix customers will be able to stream the latest Universal releases from Netflix to their TVs and computers.

Best Buy Magnolia Offers Exclusive Panasonic VIERA HDTVs and Blu-ray Players

Panasonic and Best Buy have joined to offer a new range of full HD 3D capable VIERA Plasma HDTVs and a fully-featured 2D Blu-ray Disc Player.  The range will deliver full 1080p resolution images to each eye by creating a 3D experience that easily rivals the best that can be seen in the cinemas. blu-ray discsSony on Thursday announced the release of its new BDP-CX960 and the “Elevated Standard” (ES) BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray Disc™ MegaChangers. Sony also announced the BDP-S1000ES single disc ES player expanding the Sony’s Blu-ray Disc line to 13 models offering a broad set of performance and features.  The Blu-ray Disc MegaChanger models store and play up to 400 Blu-ray Discs, DVDs, and CDs, allowing consumers to relocate their disc library to a convenient, easy-to-access location. Olive has also annouced the availability of its Opus No. 4 that can store up to 6,000 CDs.
