Yamaha Launches New 3D-Ready DivX Certified Blu-ray Disc Players
Yamaha and DivX today made a joint announcement of the worldwide release of a range of 3D-Ready DivX Certified Blu-ray Disc Players. Both companies said these new 3D-ready players bring the best in visual quality and full-featured media capabilities, enabling stunning playback of full 1080p DivX Plus HD video using the MKV container. First to market is the BD-S1067 (in Europe), with other models for North America and other areas coming later.
The DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and the DEG (Digital Entertainment Group) have reported growth in both the number of Blu-ray Players getting certified and the sale of Blu-ray Players in general. The DLNA has reported that the number of DLNA certified Blu-ray Players has nearly doubled in 2010. Based on current figures the general sale of Blu-ray Players will more than double in 2012*
Netflix customers can now watch movies released by Universal Studios Home Entertainment 28 days after their release. Universal Studios Home Entertainment made the announcement today. In the deal new releases on DVD and Blu-ray will have a four weeks period by which time Universal should make enough sales of its physical and digital offerings. After this window Netflix customers will be able to stream the latest Universal releases from Netflix to their TVs and computers.
