China's Digital Home Market Is Looking Up For Broadcom

Broadcom, a fables semiconductor company that specializes in wired and wireless home networking solution, this week announced a new HD cable set-top-box system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution with their BCM7119 and BCM7125 chips.  The new technology will allow manufacturers and cable service provider to offer the latest in connected home technology at a cheaper price.

NXP & Entropic Showcase Set-Top Box Reference Design at IBC

entropicEntropic has announced a joint set-top box (STB) reference design with NXP Semiconductors. The joint reference design will feature NXP's newly unveiled PNX847x/8x/9x, the world's first family of fully integrated 45-nm STB system-on-chip (SoC) platform incorporating multi-channel broadcast receivers and Entropic's third-generation Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA)  1.1-compliant EN251x single-chip network controller solution. The products are on view at this year’s International Broadcasters Convention (IBC) 2009 in Amsterdam.

broadcomBroadcom and SoftAtHome have collaborated to create a customized software interface which leverages Broadcom's high-performance silicon hardware and is running on a range of Broadcom high definition (HD) STB solutions, including the BCM7405 and BCM7325. SoftAtHome, a software provider of home operating platforms that help service providers deliver convergent applications for the digital home will integrate its systems with Broadcom’s, to develop a solution for hybrid, satellite and IP set-top boxes (STBs) accelerating time-to-market for advanced video and TV services.

Entropic EN2510Entropic Communications, a leading provider of silicon and software solutions to enable connected home entertainment is joining forces with the Intel Digital Home Group at the CableLabs Summer Conference 2009 in Keystone, Colo., to showcase the world's first demonstration of the newly ratified Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) Quality of Service (QoS) 3.0 specification over MoCA on a set-top box (STB) platform.
