Lantiq has introduced a new set of XWAY ARX300 device family for new ADSL2/2+ Broadband Home Gateways.  The XWAY ARX300 family includes four System-on-Chip (SoC) derivatives to address different system configurations, ranging from cost-optimized fast Ethernet to feature-rich high-performance Gigabit Ethernet systems.

DLNA Adds HomePlug AV and HD-PLC Standards to New Guidlines

HomePlug AV, HD-PLC and the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) have decided to create a unified front for the Powerline Communication (PLC) industry. The DLNA has decided to incorporate HomePlug AV and HD-PLC powerline networking standards into its new Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines due out later this year. Soon home devices that use powerline to communicating will carry the DLNA badge.

Xsilon HANADU To Change In-Home M2M Connectivity

The wireless problems faced by M2M (Machine-to-Machine) service providers is soon to be a thing of the past, according to Xsilon.   The British based M2M solutions developer is promising a new M2M wireless communication platform that will resolve today’s wireless M2M communications issues. The solution is called HANADU and will allow service providers and equipment vendors to overcome wireless obstacles such as deadspots and difficulty penetrating outside walls.

Verizon Joins Z-Wave Alliance

Verizon has solidified its commitment in the home automation and monitoring market by joining the Z-Wave Alliance.  They will now play a bigger role in promoting the Z-Wave technology and have a direct say in its direction. Verizon has also indicated their interest in making their set-top box solution wireless; therefore, joining the Z-Wave Alliance is one step in that direction.

Verizon Home Media Server Coming In 2012

Verizon is to introduce a new range of Home Media Servers to work with its set-top boxes.  The new Verizon Media Servers will be more energy efficient and will only need a scale down version Verizon set-top box in each room connected to your television. Developed in partnership with Motorola; Verizon said they will only need to deploy a smaller set-top box to each room, one that is small enough to connected to the back of your television.

HomePlug Powerline Alliance To Attend Chinese Technology Summits

The HomePlug powerline communication technology enables homeowners to use thier existing electrical wires to distribute broadband Internet, HD video, digital music and smart energy applications.
