AMIMON Gets $15M Funding To Boost WHDI Chipset Production

Amimon one of the companies behind the wireless TV evolution has received a $15 Million injection as part of a second round of financing. This round of funding, said Amimon came from strategic investors along with existing investors, and that the “funding will accelerate the development of follow-on generations of AMIMON’s WHDI chipset enabling further integration, cost reduction and facilitating growth in the wireless home video market.”

Broadcom Completes First Mediaroom Client Set-top Box Integration

Broadcom has changed the way Microsoft mediaroom clients connect to each other, with the release of its Broadcom BCM4717V system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution. Previously, users with multiple set-top box would connect them together via wire network using MoCA, Ethernet or HPNA and connect to the TV.  The BCM4717 changes this and allow you to connect wirelessly throughout the home.

Intel, Vodafone Partnered on Connected Home Framework

Vodafone and Intel have decided to join forces through the combination of each others market solutions. They have announced their joint effort to accelerate Machine-to-Machine communication in and outside the home.  Intel has promise to release and Atom-based developer’s kit that will make it easier for Consumer Electronic (CE) manufacturers and Independent Software Vendors (ISV) to develop solutions to facilitate easier M2M communication. As partner Vodafone will provide the network and connectivity services for the devices.

Vodafone has extends its product range to support its customers in regions where there is limited access to the internet, with the development of the Vodafone WebBox.  Considered to be the first device of its kind; it was developed specially for customers in emerging markets to make internet access more affordable. Netcomm has collaborated with Sierra Wireless to develop a new line of Netcomm Liberty Series LTE Wi-Fi router. Netcomm is hoping to tap into the growing 4G market around the world with this new line of routers that are also backward compatible with third and second generation 3G and 2G wireless frequencies. NETGEAR Releases Second Generation Femtocell, MF100H

Netgear today announced the release of its MF100H Second generation Femtocell device. Qualcomm's Skifta for Android Receives DLNA Certification

Qualcomm’s recently release media shifting platform Skifta, has become the first software platform to be certified by the Digital Living Networking Alliance (DLNA) under its new software certification program.  Now, users with compatible DLNA devices can shift their contents to wherever they are more comfortable enjoying it. Skifta – beta currently available at the Android Marketplace as a free download for smartphones running Android version 2.2 and higher.
