Infosys Introduces Intel Atom Based Digital Smart Home Gateway

Infosys Technologies has developed an Intel Atom E600 processor based Digital Smart Home Gateway for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).  According to Infosys, the Digital Smart Home Gateway was design to connect multiple home devices and allow users to manage them via wireless from a smart phone or remotely via the Web. Also available is the option to integrate the solution into other products for utility, healthcare, telecom, entertainment and security service providers.

SoftAtHome and Lantiq have decided to join their respective expertise to develop and integrated platform for advance home gateways.  SoftAtHome has combined its digital home operating platform with Lantiq’s broadband access and home networking technologies. So Far they have created a ChipSet Support Package (CSSP) that enables SoftAtHome Operating Platform (SOP) to rapidly be deployed on the latest XWAY XRX-100 processors.

Western Digital (WD) has introduced a new Android Smartphone App to complement its range of digital home storage products. Owners of the WD ShareSpace, My Book World Edition and My BookLive can now use WD Photo Viewer App to access and view their photos from an Android Smartphone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPhone and iPhone4 from anywhere there is an internet connection. The WD Photo Viewer is available as a free download from the Android market as a free download.

Marvell and Jungo Introduce Gateway-on-a-Chip (GoC) for Always-on Connected Home

Jungo and Marvell have combined the Jungo’s OpenRG(TM) residential gateway software and Marvell's AVANTA(TM) Application Gateway-on-a-Chip (GoC) in one reference design for the always-on connected home. The news was made at this year’s Broadband World Forum in La Defense Paris France.

Service providers and network operators will have easier access to always-on home services and value-added applications using devices with the new residential gateway reference platform.

Netgear and Intel Launched Wireless TV, "Push2TV" in Middle East

Netgear has collaborated with Intel to launch ‘Push2TV’ in the Middle East. Push2TV is a new adapter that enables Intel Notebook users in the region to display their entire laptop computer screen on their big screen HDTVs. The Push2TV solution also allows users to wirelessly access their media file on a laptop or on another device such as a SAN (Storage Area Network).
 

Atheros Offers HomePlug AV and Wi-Fi Feference Designs

atherosIt’s almost a year since Atheros Communication acquired Intellon Corporation, a supplier of HomePlug and other powerline communication solutions, and today Atheros announced the release of four new reference designs based on Wi-Fi, HomePlug AV Powerline and Ethernet technologies. The reference designs comprises of a router and three adapters that use various combinations of its XSPAN wireless LAN, AMP™ powerline and ETHOS Ethernet technologies.
